In my time working with California State University Channel Islands and the Marine Conservation lab at California Polytechnic State University San Luis Obispo, I have had the privilege of being involved in two crucial environmental research projects.
Firstly, at California State University Channel Islands, I dedicated significant effort to the identification and categorization of microplastics. This involved meticulous analysis and characterization of these tiny particles, which are pervasive in our environment and pose a significant threat to marine ecosystems. Through this work, I gained a deep understanding of the complex nature of microplastic pollution and contributed to the broader scientific community’s efforts to address this pressing issue.

Furthermore, my involvement in the study of the Pismo Clam’s recovery at the Marine Conservation lab at California Polytechnic State University San Luis Obispo has been a rewarding experience. This research allowed me to contribute to the conservation and restoration of a vital species in California’s coastal ecosystems. I engaged in fieldwork, data collection, and analysis, gaining valuable insights into the factors influencing the clam’s population dynamics and recovery efforts.
Overall, these experiences have not only enriched my understanding of marine conservation but also highlighted the urgent need for continued research and conservation efforts to protect our oceans and their inhabitants from the threats posed by microplastics and habitat degradation. I am grateful for the opportunity to have been a part of these meaningful projects and look forward to contributing further to the field of marine conservation in the future.
